The John Michael Kohler Arts Center (Sheboygan, WI) is seeking a Preschool Teacher to serve as a Wisconsin State licensed 4K preschool teacher in Preschool for 4– to 5–year–olds. Responsibilities include implementing our arts–based curriculum with the 4K Preschool that is affiliated with the Sheboygan Area School District. Responsible for teaching, classroom management, administration, communication with parents, and evaluation of students’ development through assessments that align with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (DPI).

Schedule   August 11, 2026 - June 12, 2027   
  • Daytime hours Monday – Friday
  • Monday-  shorter day focused on planning and preparation
  • Tuesday – Friday classroom instruction
  • Occasional evenings or weekends to support museum and preschool events
What You’ll Do 
  1. Implement  our arts-based curriculum and bring it to life utilizing the Arts Center’s exhibitions, performances, artists-in-residence, and other programming as primary resources. Use the Arts Center’s curriculum wheel and the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards as a basis for designing daily projects and activities.
  2. Adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Wisconsin State Licensing rules and policies including the health and safety of all children, tracking students throughout the day, maintaining student files, and healthy snack/allergy awareness guidelines. Maintain the requirements set forth by the Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) and state mandates for 4K programs. 
  3. Manage classroom and student engagement and communicate with parents.
  4. Maintain and compose ongoing communication with parents keeping them up to date on events. Work together with the Preschool team to ensure creation and production of all collateral (flyers, postcards, programs, labels, and text panels). 
  5. Conduct fall, midyear, and year end evaluations of each child and meet with parents to discuss their child’s development in a conference format.
  6.  Collaborate with the program leadership and teachers to coordinate field trips, the annual performance and Preschool Perspectives, the exhibition of student work. 
  7. Participate in museum events, including open houses, exhibitions of student work, and family programs
  8. Attend staff meetings, trainings, curatorial briefings and professional development
What you’ll bring: 
  • Knowledge and training in best practices in the administrative aspects of Preschool administration as mandated by the state of Wisconsin. 
  • Knowledge, experience, and interest in a variety of visual and performing arts. 
  • Curriculum development for an arts-based Preschool for ages three to five. 
  • Experience in early childhood education. 
  • Experience directing support staff and volunteers. 
  • Strong communication skills to include conflict resolution, child mediation, and parent communications.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field
  • Wisconsin DPI teaching License required
  • Two years of experience in Early Childhood Education
  • Excellent communication skills, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Background in the arts highly desired
The John Michael Kohler Arts Center (JMKAC) is a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts center located in the heart of downtown Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
