Summer 2026 Internship Dates
June 2 – August 21 (may be flexible);
29 hours a week, including some nights and weekends.
Required dates: June 6, July 4, July 17 – 19
This is a paid internship. Interns may also be eligible to receive course credit for this internship through their school, but it is the intern's responsibility to pursue this option through their school or university.

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex, located in Sheboygan, WI, is seeking a Registrar & Collections Intern for the exciting summer of 2026.
The Arts Center mounts 12-16 original exhibitions annually. In 2021, the Arts Center opened the Art Preserve building which is the first space of its kind for the presentation of a permanent collection specifically focused on artist-built environments. The Intern will work closely with the Arts Center’s registrars and preparators as well as other exhibitions staff to support and assist with collections projects. Specific areas of focus will depend on departmental needs and the intern’s skills and interests.
What you will do
The Arts Center mounts 12-16 original exhibitions annually. What you will do
- Assist with accessioning new objects into the Arts Center’s permanent collection
- Assisting with inventories and condition checks of items in preparation for exhibition
- Provide support to the department by assisting with administrative tasks as assigned
- Assist with Arts Center special events, including Midsummer Festival of the Arts July 18th & 19th, Summer Concert Series, and the July 4th parade
Who you are
- A current undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate) in museum studies, library studies, art history, or art (general).
- A strong interest in hands-on learning about current museum practice, collections care, information management, art handling, contemporary art, and/or self-taught art.
- Self-driven learner/experiencer, capable of multi-tasking and following directions, high attention to detail, and intentional in one's actions.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with databases or Pastperfect is a plus
- Occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions
